Line In Audio Issue

So I purchased an A40 audio system, and I set my Xbox to 5.1, but doing this caused the audio in my capture card to stop working. Apparently it doesn't support 5.1 so it won't record audio.

I came up with a solution though, because the red and white audio cables still work when 5.1 is on and the optical is being used. So I have the cable that came with my X31s that is a standard 3.5mm on one end and has the red and white audio on the other. So I connected this so the sound runs into my PC through the line in. I then have AmaRecTV (best capture program ever) record from line in.

The issue I have is that every time I turn on my PC or change a mic setting in AmaRec the line in is disabled as shown in the picture below. I've tried setting it as default device and this doesn't change anything.

Any ideas how to fix this? I don't want to forget to change it, and end up not recording gamesound.
